At Todd Devine Homes, we’re committed to building high-quality, efficient, and sustainable homes — and we’re always looking for innovations that make the homebuilding journey smarter, faster, and more accessible than ever before.

Last week, our team had the opportunity to visit the talented crew behind MULTIKit — thanks to Dahlsens — and learn more about the impressive Truss House AU-002 system. It was a fantastic opportunity to explore how construction is evolving to meet the needs of a changing housing landscape.

Alongside other industry experts, we were introduced to how MULTIKit’s system is redefining timber-framed construction through modern methods and streamlined processes — aligning with our mission at Todd Devine Homes to continually innovate and improve.

As part of their development process, the MULTIKit team has been using time-in-motion testing to benchmark and validate build efficiencies:

  • Pick-place-brace: 5.5 minutes with 2 people
  • Hinge-pick-place-brace: 5.5 minutes with 4 people
  • Insulation install: 3 minutes per 1.2m batt

With just 1 tradesperson and 1 apprentice, a section of Truss House AU-002 was assembled — showcasing the potential of streamlined prefab systems to reduce time on site, minimise waste, and make construction more efficient across the board.

AU-002 Highlights:

  • Made from 100% timber – lightweight, renewable, and low-carbon
  • Engineered with efficiency in mind, supporting rapid on-site assembly
  • 65 portal frames, over 150sqm, built in just 3 hours
  • Offers a flexible internal layout that can adapt as housing needs evolve

This isn’t just an innovation in framing — it’s a step forward for how we think about building, affordability, and scalability.

A big thank you to the MULTIKit team for sharing your process and progress with us. At Todd Devine Homes, we’re excited by what’s possible when we collaborate, experiment, and embrace smarter ways of building for the future.
